American scoring first round Plate 2008
Could both the second round and plate competitions be played by 14th March 2008, please. As always any games being reported late will result in both players forfeiting their place in the competition. Click here to Mail Dave Hastings with results.
This year there are two tournaments (plus plate for each one).
Competition A - Main Club Championship: Club Championship A competition 2008
Competition B - Championship for Players in Division 1 and below (excludes all team players): Club Championship B competition 2008
Without exception the climax of all competitions are to be played on finals night. To ensure clashes are avoided please put the following in your diary, Finals night will be on Friday 13th June 2008.

The American Scoring tournament is a handicapped tournament which includes all members of the club. The handicapping system (based on league positions) is designed to give everyone a chance of winning. First round losers will entered into the plate competition.
American Scoring to 15 points (ie score a point every rally regardless of who is serving)

Best of three games
If both players are on a positive handicap, the lower handicapped player starts from zero and the other from the positive difference ie +3 v +5 means that the first player starts from zero and the second player from +2.
If both players are on a negative handicap, the higher handicapped player starts from zero and the other from the negative difference ie -3 v -20 means that the first player starts from zero and the second player from -17.
If one player is on a positive handicap and the other is on a negative handicap then both players start from their handicaps.
